RAF West Raynham Memorial Day 27 September 2014
We were blessed with a glorious Autumn day when the great and the good descended on the former Station, to see the Memorial unveiled.
It was a hard task to find a VIP to perform the unveiling, in the end three people agreed. Air-Vice Marshall Les Phipps CB AFC RAF retired; who would represent the Station during the Cold War Years; Wing Commander Don (Spider) Webb DFM RAF retired who would represent the WW2 generation and finally Mr Mervyn (Kenny) Freeman who would represent the many civilian workers on the Station.
Special guests included Gp Captain Bill Taylor, Gp Captain Ed Durham, former Station Commander and Flt Lt Alan Pollock RAF (Retd) Representatives from the nearby RAF Marham, the local RBL and RAFA, Fakenham ATC, RAF Regiment, Investec, FW Properties and many other who had travelled from far and wide. Rev Dr Bundock gave the blessing
Investec provided money for the BBQ and FW Properties, hosted the event
